With all the prominent figures of the third official Codenames Tournament already introduced, we have nothing left to do but move right into the action! Having said that, let's start by directing our attention towards the Round Robin, to review the rankings and commemorate some instances of sheer hilarity that will surely make the Codenames Hall of Fame after the end of this Tournament.😄 As I already mentioned, a total of fifteen matches made up the Round Robin and all six teams gave it their all, aiming to win as many matches as they could. But enough with the generalisations, time to jump into the matches and review some moments that are certainly worth remembering!

The first match of the Round Robin, with C as the official neutral, featured melennia versus Jespelodel and ended with a victory for the latter, who managed to win all three of the rounds. The suspense and pressure of the first match were high but both teams turned to their strengths to dominate the boards. In the end, a series of rapid-fire clues offered by Jess and the reappearance of several extracurricular-level clues by Jenna (which were as well-perceived as such clues usually are 😄) determined the fate of the match.
The second match featured a new neutral, Nooms, and a brand new team, Reilowtl, who would be facing melennia. Despite the nerves that seemed to grow with each new board that the teams had to tackle and the playfully scathing banter that the spectators seemed to thrive on, Reilowtl managed to emerge victorious and show the first signs of what would later, during the Bracket Round, become a rather strong, undefeated streak.

"Will the first match finish in time before the second match begins?"
The third match followed a few days later and featured two teams that were already considered wild cards, given their proclivity for the use of more... inventive clues. 😄 Which teams? Omoomow and AshftAlyssa27! With C as the neutral, the teams fought to the death as they exchanged metaphorical blows and kept the spectators at the edge of their seats till the end. Ultimately, AshftAlyssa27 managed to claim victory after winning two of the rounds at the very last second!
Not but a few short hours later, AshftAlyssa27 were back in the ring, with Reilowtl standing opposite them and Carmen as their new neutral. With both teams already celebrating their first victory, it was no wonder that both teams entered the arena quite confidently and managed to make the final round the decisive one for the crown. Unfortunately, one telling clue and the first appearance of the assassin word gave Reilowtl the victory, with two rounds won in the end.

The next day proved to be promising with three matches packed in! The first match was between Madstar Walles and Omoomow, both still fresh and trying to learn the ropes, with Carmen as their neutral. Both teams held a very positive attitude throughout the entire game, with praise flowing from all sides, and in the end, Omoomow claimed victory after winning all three of the rounds.
The second match featured a team we hadn't seen in a while, Jespelodel, and our seasoned contenders, AshftAlyssa27. With Isabella (aka yours truly) debuting as a neutral, the match was a nail-biter from the first round, which hung in the balance till the very end. Despite an unfortunate click that led them to the assassin during the second round, AshftAlyssa27 made a comeback and managed to win the match with two victories.
The day ended with a match that would prove to be quite meaningful in hindsight, the first fight between our current finalists: Omoomow and Reilowtl. Despite the teams forgetting some of the most important details of the match before its beginning, such as the fact that I would be the designated neutral once more, the main event had everyone bouncing with anxiety! From Rei's heart rate reaching stress levels to the spectators hanging on by a thread, the match finally ended with a victory for Reilowtl, with two rounds won.
The next match happened on a different day, thankfully. 😄 This time, Madstar Walles and Jespelodel battled it out on the field, with Nooms as their neutral in this rather early match. The clues kept coming as both teams exchanged blows but after several moments of genius and some very... unique assassin words, the not-so-humble Jespelodel managed to win all three of the rounds and claim victory.
The very next day, Madstar Walles returned to the field with a new opponent, Reilowtl, and a new neutral, the early-bird Jess (try finding someone else to neutral a match at 7:30 in the morning!). Despite the rude morning awakening for some, the match was full of excitement and philosophical contemplations before finally, Reilowtl maintained their undefeated streak and won two of the rounds in their typical nail-biting way.

And it was on the very next day that two more matches, almost back to back, took place. The first was between Omoomow and Jespelodel, with yours truly coming forth to neutral their battle. And what a battle it was! North American English versus British English, it was evident they were both willing to keep evening out the playing field with their clues until the end. Finally, Jespelodel rose and won the last round, crowing them the victors with two rounds won.
Almost right away, Omoomow returned for their new match, with C as their new neutral and melennia as their new opponent. With live play-by-play commentary and wild pub-related discussions, the match proved to be an instant hit with spectators but came to an abrupt end after the assassin word was clicked. In the end, Omoomow emerged victorious after winning all three of the rounds.
Only one match occurred on what C had dubbed as the best day ever, with Madstar Walles and AshftAlyssa27 battling it out under Rei's watchful eye. The match included quite spirited back-and-forth between players and spectators alike that got even the nicest Hufflepuff Maddy involved! With a few minutes left on the clock and both teams struggling with their clues, Madstar Walles managed to emerge victorious with two rounds won.
Another day, two more matches almost back to back, with the first featuring melennia and Madstar Walles. With me, myself and I as the neutral, the match was rather rocky because of some technical issues but both teams took it in stride and tried their hardest to win. One lengthy battle and much overthinking later, Madstar Walles emerged victorious after winning two of the rounds.
Spectators were quick to jump ship to watch the clash of the Titans, Reilowtl and Jespelodel, with C as the ever-present neutral. The stakes were high and everyone's heartbeat seemed to be climbing towards dangerous stress levels the more clues the spymasters came up with. The second round proved to be the decisive one, with both teams sticking to their guns to win, but in the end, Jespelodel emerged victorious after they managed to win all three of the rounds.

The last match took place between melennia and AshftAlyssa27, with your favourite journalist (which would better be me!) coming forth to neutral the Round Robin finale. The match was quite the roller coaster, with one team (I will let you guess which one) entertaining the spectators with their pleasant bickering over their shared clues. 😄 In the end, however, and despite the surprises that greeted us along the way, AshftAlyssa27 won two rounds and emerged victorious.
