Who is Really behind Barbenheimer?
The biggest question this past July: Barbie, Oppenheimer or both? I mean, I've watched neither, but the dramatic collision of two highly anticipated movies in theatres created a media frenzy like no other.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, the release of Christopher Nolan's biographical portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the visionary behind the creation of nuclear weapons, went head-to-head with Greta Gerwig's fantastically pink comedy, "Barbie." These two seemingly contrasting films shared a common release date, setting the stage for an unprecedented clash of genres and fanbases. The result? An absolutely mind-boggling surge of media excitement that had everyone talking. Debates about the best order to watch it, if you should watch both on the same day, what people will wear, whether Ryan Gosling has enough kenergy. Crossover memes arose; Margot Robbie and the cast were dressed up in Barbie-inspired outfits and jokes were made about blowing up an AirBnB in Malibu.
One of my favourite facts that arose during "Barbenheimer" was that set production for Barbie caused a major company to run out of pink paint completely. Yep, the set was so pink it caused a shortage.
But now you may be wondering, why is Barbenheimer worth mentioning in the Quibbler? Well, that, my dear readers, is an excellent question. Let's brainstorm a bit and pull out some keywords from each of the films…
Pink. Destruction. Fashion. Ethical issues.
Now, who does this remind you of?
If you said Umbridge, you're correct. The toad we all know and hate was behind Barbieheimer. Think about it. Really, think about it.
1. The chaos
Well, there is chaos in deciding which movie to watch first. We know Umbridge; she thrives on making things unpleasant. While deciding which movie you're going to watch first isn't exactly unpleasant, it's a minor setback that adds disturbance to one's day!
2. The aesthetics
Pink, lovely pink, yet sickening and mean and sinister. Beloved friends & tolerated acquaintances, I present what may sound like Barbenheimer but is really Umbridge! She just HAD to add her signature personality to it.
3. The cult-like following
Barbenheimer was huge. Like, everyone-knew-about-it huge. What a great way to start spreading pink and destruction to the masses. Like, okay, Umbridge, that's enough now. Is this what you were planning all that time in Azkaban?
4. Pink shortage
The obvious one here. Umbridge loves pink herself - The only thing I can think of is that she got into the Barbie set design and encouraged the use of so much pink that no other movie can have pink. It's diabolical.
I hope you're all convinced and clarified. I should probably watch both movies before making any more comments. You are kenough.

The great outdoors:
a campfire story
Over the years, many changes have rattled our beloved site, some of them pleasant, some of them not so much. Often do we hear the older members reminiscing about how things used to be and all the enjoyable parts of the site that they were used to exploring during their earlier years around this place but can no longer spot in the revamped castle. However, despite the changes that have occurred over the years and despite the many more that are sure to come, there have always been certain constants that students and Alumni alike have found solace in and one of the most creative and inspiring ones has always been the annual Head Student event. For Year 69, the event was organized by Head Student Lissarose, a Ravenclaw OWL/NEWT student. But what exactly did this event entail, how was it any different from past events, did it hold on to the traditions of HS events across the site's history? Let's dive into the specifics together, shall we? 😉
This year's event featured a camping theme, with students and Alumni participants gathering by the Black Lake with their camping gear to enjoy some quality time together during their Interim break. One of the most striking features of this event, which I would be remiss not to start this article with, was a surprise celebration for our dear Headmistress, Memrah, who celebrated her birthday on the 31st of July. The topic set up by Head Student Lissa served as a tribute where all site members could post their wishes and gifts in the form of pictures, GIFs or more and ended up being a very sweet surprise for the person who does so much for everyone in this community and works tirelessly to keep everything running. As such, the Quibbler team would also like to extend their fondest wishes to our Headmistress for her birthday, even if we are a month late. 😂

Of course, the event's surprises did not end there as a combination of relaxing and competitive activities compiled the exciting festivities. Starting off, there could be no proper camping trip without campfire stories! The game was titled "Ten Word Campfire Stories" and well... it pretty much went as the name suggests. 😂 All participants would post one word at a time to add to the ongoing story until it reached the limit of ten words and the results were quite hilarious. Who knew Filch could sing lullabies?! And for those whose storytelling endeavours were not enough to capture their attention for long, what would be set nearby if not the perfect bonfire for another camping classing, some marshmallow roasting? For those who desired a snack, the chance to roast some delicious marshmallows over the flames was not to be missed... and the Horned Serpent campers certainly thrived during this particular activity. 😎
But besides food and water, what else does one need when enjoying the great outdoors? But a nice comfortable tent, of course! And this camping trip would not have been complete without a tent pitching game, which took the form of a puzzle and brought forth some healthy competition, with the one who completed their puzzle (and thus pitched their tent) the fastest earning some extra House points for their trouble. This event also included yet another interesting feature, an Activity Raffle with one gorgeous banner! The terms were simple: Complete all the task requirements and earn a spot in the raffle for the chance to win a 20G Stoatselm Voucher. Earning rewards for having fun with your friends, count me in! 😊

And finally, this event would not be a proper camping excursion without a major, team-oriented game. This event's chosen means of competitive entertainment was titled Camp Games and was a simple but intense game of Tug of War. Participants were separated into two teams, the Red Team and the Green Team, and their goal was simple: Tug the rope for your team to reach the ten-point mark, granting you victory. Needless to say, the participants' excitement was through the roof as they rushed to sign in and take up their spots, ready to tug their way to camping glory. In fact, the game was so popular and the participants so eager to play that the stakes were raised after the first round, placing the desired point mark to twenty points instead. While I am personally not great at tugging ropes, I can imagine that this game was quite the sight to behold, with five people on each side working their way to victory by attempting to drag each other through the metaphorical (I hope!) mud. Kudos to our Head Student for her creativity!

And with that, our report on this year's HS event has come to an end. From stories to marshmallows to games, this event had it all and of course, granted all participants with many House points and other exciting prizes. Just like previous years, this event did not disappoint and it even raised everyone's expectations for next year! But I have faith in our Head Students and their unbound creativity and I am looking forward to seeing what new, exciting adventures the next event will lead us on. Until then... enjoy your upcoming summer break, dear readers! 😉
