Dearest Readers of the Quibbler,

Hello! I am beyond excited to welcome you back to the Quibbler for our eighty-ninth issue. This edition recaps all of the exciting events that took place during Year 69, with special interviews featuring our graduating student and our Postfects, as well as a feature of the spooky Halloween festivities and highlights from the Quidditch Pitch! Additionally, you will find an exciting Quibbler Quest where our very own Quibbler Columnist takes on an investigative case involving a vanished tea set and suspects galore! Be sure to also catch up on the Interhouse Awards and the swirling speculations regarding the upcoming Gap Year.

If you're interested in writing for the Quibbler or if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns, please PM me!

Graduation Glee

It is an honor and pleasure that I was able to interview our Year 69 graduate, Lissarose! We got to talk about her time here as a Hogwarts student, plans for the future and more. While we will all miss Lissarose at Hogwarts, we are excited to see her start living her best Alumni life!

1. Tell us about your earliest memory of being a student.
Oooh, this is a tricky one!! Hmm, one interesting early memory I have was experiencing the excitement and the lead up to the beginning of my first year, and then the site becoming incredibly quiet once the year actually began! I initially wondered where everyone went… and then realized that of course people had gone off to do assignments and practicals and so weren’t as active in other areas. I actually really liked this, because it encouraged me to get a start on my homework and gave me a lot of time and space to explore the site.

2. What have been your favorite subjects to study and why?
Divination, Astronomy and DADA have been my favourites! Divination because that’s a topic that I know a lot about in real life. Astronomy because I got to learn about real science and astrological events that I didn’t know anything about beforehand. And DADA because I think it’s the subject that comes most naturally to me.

3. What will you miss most about being a student?
This might sound odd, but I don’t think I’ll miss it! Everything about mH that I love will still be there for me as an alumna - the community, the classes and the events! I’m looking forward to the flexibility of being an alumna and being able to choose when I want to sign up for WizU classes. Not needing to do classes every year to remain active is really appealing to me!

Of course, I will miss being HS, as I have absolutely loved running a yearly event for everyone! But also, I've now done four years of HS events, and I'm ready for a break and to hand over the reins to someone new!

4. What are your plans for when you're an alumni?
Well, my most immediate plan is to seriously enjoy the Gap Year in Y70. I’m going to use that time to let loose and have a proper rest from the grind of assignments! After that, I have some plans for further study at WizU (Darks Arts class, I’m coming for you!) and doing some little extra things outside of classes like getting my Apparition license, learning Occlumency, and finishing my Patronus study. I would also love to get back into Quidditch! I didn’t have the time or energy for it in my last few years at school, but I had such fun playing in my early years and would love to try it out again.

I’m also keen to spend at least one mH year after the Gap Year with no leadership position. I’ve done either QC or HS almost my entire time at school, and I need a break before I step into any alumni leadership roles (Postfect, etc).

5. What advice do you have for future students?
Enjoy Hogwarts, move through your school years at your own pace, and find joy in the wonderful interactions and experiences Hogwarts has to offer! Classes are important, but getting to know your classmates, participating in events with them, and engaging with the wonderful community here is where the true magic happens.

My other very practical advice is to plan what classes you want to take and set yourself a reasonable amount of work each term. Take a look at the jobs on the site that appeal to you and what their qualifications are, and start building a timetable for yourself. Only you know what workload you can handle and what your approach to learning at Hogwarts should be. One of the best things about myHogwarts is that anything you don’t have the time for now, you can always try out later.

6. What advice do you have for those graduating soon?
This is not the end, but a new beginning!! Decide what you want out of mH and go after it! Once you graduate you can do further study at WizU, open a shop, become a Postfect, play Quidditch, get your dream job, plan site events… There is literally an endless amount that mH has to offer you. Take your strengths, your qualifications and your interests, and make this site your own.
