Each Quibbler Issue is unique. The crew works hard to write new, surprising articles each month to give the readers yet another wonderful magazine to enjoy. Each Columnist has their own style, each Correspondent chooses their own aspects to focus on and each Interviewer uses a different set of questions. But we must not forget the person who is responsible for actually publishing an issue: the Editor. For years, the Quibbler was run by Kathleen, who did an amazing job working for the magazine. Unfortunately, she decided to resign a few years ago. Or not so unfortunate? Jahnavi is the new Editor and it seems to fit her rather well! How does she feel about her new job? How does the crew feel about the change of Editor?
“I was not expecting that I would get hired for such a huge position,” Navi tells me. “When I saw my name as being hired, I was immensely shocked. And then came the giddiness and happiness.” For now, she does not have any big plans, as she is still trying to adjust to the position. Instead, she is spending much of her time on getting the hang of the crew and their habits.
The Quibbler Crew is very satisfied with the new Editor! “I think she’s actually pretty good at it,” Luna says. “Like, she’s told me how to fix my articles many times.” Reem agrees: “Navi takes her job seriously and always gives us the necessary updates. She’s helpful and very organised!” “What I like most about Navi as editor is the amount of new ideas she comes up with to improve the Quibbler articles,” Kyla adds.
I also asked the crew what the biggest difference is between working under Navi and working under Kathleen. “What I like most about working under Navi is that she’s not scary,” Angela tells me. “It’s much easier to talk with Jahnavi than with Kathleen,” Kath adds. “Kathleen used the fear her writers had for her in order to get articles in on time.” Luna also experiences this by the pressure she feels. “Kathleen was very successful and I felt that she was very superior (if you read this, Kathleen, please don’t take it personally), but Navi is also a student and I feel there is more friendliness.”
Jahnavi was most surprised that being an Editor actually meant having to hunt your crew down to get the articles on time, and though she wishes to hunt less, she still loves the job. “Being the Editor of the Quibbler is much more fun that I had inntitially expected it to be.” She also discovered more about herself. “As I edit the articles, I always feel a deep urge to change things to my liking, such as paragraph flow and word choice,” she explains. “However, I try to push those feelings back down, because those edits would make the articles mine, rather than theirs.” Not everyone of the crew agrees. Angela, for example, believes that an Editor sometimes needs to restructure the whole article if it would greatly increase the quality of the article.
As Editor of the Quibbler, you have the power to reach many wizards and witches at once. Thus, I asked Navi if she has a message for her audience. “Please enjoy the Quibbler as much as you can,” she states. “And spend a little of your time to read all the articles made by the hardworking staff… Also, don’t hestitate to PM me or post any suggestions, comments, things you liked, etc.”
The crew also has some advice for Jahnavi. “I’d recommend that she’s more reasonable with deadlines,” Kath explains. “I understand that she wishes to give her writers ample time to create good work, but especially with the current deadline, she’s giving me and Marie only one night to work, unless we continue to design on Christmas Day.” “There's not much I can say to her, but keep on doing what you are Navi! Also, don't be so lazy sometimes,” Kyla says. Reem also wants to share some advice for Navi. “You’re amazing. Keep going or you’re off the Quidditch team,” she jokes.
Jahnavi works very hard to keep the Quibbler working, and though she could improve on a few points, we must not forget that she got hired only recently! She is working very hard and contributes a lot to the Quibbler. Keep the great work up, Navi!
The Dark Cookies
by LunaHP
Hello, dedicated readers!
Now today, I am going to talk about an extremely serious issue. EXTREMELY SERIOUS. Read this carefully.
Does the Dark Side have cookies?
And no, I don’t mean the Dark Side in Star Wars. I mean the Death Eaters and generally mean and Dark people in our wizarding world. Recently, a certain Death Eater was online. I say a certain Death Eater as this Death Eater may wish to be anonymous. That and the fact their username literally is “Death Eater”. Now, I clicked on their profile as curiosity brought me in, and in their signature stood a sentence, and only one word stuck out. Cookie. Yes, the sentence was "Come to the Dark Side, we have cookies."
Obviously, I had to see if Mr/Ms Death Eater was giving them out for free, so I PMed them and stated that I would like to join them in order for cookies. Then, I quickly exclaimed that I was joking and said I would never join them (because I’m an innocent young girl). Overnight, this Death Eater PMed me back...
"You dare disturb me for this?" he stated, obviously enraged. "You do know what Death Eaters can do, don’t you? "
Obviously, this Death Eater had a bit of a big ego, so I retorted back without shrinking back at his glare.
"I’d prefer not to find out, thank you, Mr. Death Eater." I replied. "But, although I’m not joining, is there still any chance of that cookie?" (I really wanted that cookie.)
Perhaps a week later, he responded *cue dramatic music* "No sorry, I don’t give cookies to people who won’t join" was his reply, sweet and simple.
Well, not too sweet. But simple. Ahh, cookies are sweet... *drools* Sorry, daydreamed a bit there. Anyway, I was very surprised at his etiquette. What kind of Death Eater says “Sorry”? But I waved that aside and got onto a more serious issue.
"Fair enough," I said, although I was deeply annoyed. "Anyway, who rules you guys now that Voldemort is gone?" I asked, specifically calling Voldemort by his name in order to spite that polite Death Eater. "Is it now a democracy or do you guys just run around in black cloaks giving yourselves scary names?". And this time, I wasn’t trying to spite him. I was genuinely asking from curiosity. I believe the latter, obviously.
The Death Eater hasn’t replied since, either because he’s not been online or I touched a nerve. Or he’s fed up with me. One of those three. Once again, probably the latter. So, what do Death Eaters really do? I’ll let you know in the next issue of The Quibbler if I get a response. But on a more important note...
Do the Death Eaters really have cookies? And if so, why can’t I have some??

Prophecy Fulfillment
By DoctorTwo
On the second of December, Eba, a Year 39 Graduate had gathered the Prophecy Fulfilment Squad, a group of students from different houses to fulfill a prophecy which was recently uncovered by the Department of Mysteries and Eba herself. I had the chance to ask her a few questions, so this article will consist of her responses as well as the Team Meeting in the Great Hall. No clues were used or known in the writing of this article. The prophecy reads as follows:
'Unspoken experiments turned more than a decade.
For houses to endure they must have firm foundations
but masons cannot find these cracks;
the parents will only listen to their children.
And so the children will go back.'
Let's try to break this down. 'Unspoken' implies that the 'experiments' which had taken place were secret, probably because they were not supposed to or not allowed to take place. The experiments themselves are not explicitly stated, however it can be inferred that they were cataclysmic, whether that implies physically destructive or emotionally/socially destructive isn't clear either.
The 'foundations', especially in the context of the Hogwarts houses are clearly a reference to the founders of the school. They were the metaphorical foundations of the school that had built it. So, for the houses - presumably Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw - to live on, these foundations (the founders) must be firm (strong, stable.) The fact that 'masons cannot find these cracks' implies that the rift between Helga and Rowena (the founders of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, respectively) may not have been well-known or obvious. Masons are skilled in laying stones for buildings and presumably also skilled in building foundations for those buildings. So, if a mason (skilled wizard) can't find the cracks in the stone (the rift in the relationship), then the cracks are hidden.
Many members of the squad, during the Team Meeting, have suggested that the 'parents' areHelgaandRowena, and that the 'children' are the students. Following this idea, the prophecy states that 'parents will only listen to their children', so the two founders whom have cracks in their relationship will only adhere to the instruction of the students. This part of the prophecy tells the reader that there is something that can be done about it and that it is the 'children' (students) who must do something about it. The final part of the prophecy tells the reader exactly how it will be fulfilled. 'And so the children will go back', implies that the children (students, again) will need to go back in time to fix the issue. The fact that students need to go back was confirmed by Eba when I had asked her my questions.
So, there were secret or covert experiments which had taken place and they may have caused a rift in the relationship between Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw. For these houses to continue to live on, the relationships between their founders must be strong and stable, but not even a great wizard would know that there is an issue in their dynamic. The two founders will only listen to the students if they are asked to do something, so the students are the only ones who can fix the issue, and they must fix it by going back in time.
Again, most of this interpretation is aided by responses from Eba and the Team Meeting in the Great Hall, however some of it may not be correct or true as it is, overall an interpretation. I hope some students find this useful and I hope that it was informative. Happy new year, and, if it isn't too late, Merry Christmas!
