Hot and Cold, Ella vs Disa
by Mellsuili
Heya everyone, I’m Mell and I’ll be writing these duelling articles for you guys! Also the Peverell Cup started before I was hired, so I’ll write about the matches still remaining.
Duellers: Ella (artistwitch) and Disa
Referee: Memrah
Both duellers follow their referee Memrah up a flock of wooden stairs. They seem fairly unstable, but you can trust the referee…hopefully. Minutes and minutes kept passing by as the stairs started to seem endless. Awhile later, both duellers were greeted by the platform that was surrounded by ancient buildings of sandstone bricks. All seems good, except the fact there is a large gaping hole in the middle. As the duellers walk around the square hole and get into position, they got ready to descend into discord. (I mean literal discord, this is a RTD duel that’s happening in the website discord.)
Disa, respecting Ella before chaos occurs, bows before casting. After that respectful bow, Disa was finally ready to act. “Odioquis!” they shout, with an image of a distracted Ella tripping into that seemingly dangerous hole in the middle. But instead of Ella doing a backflip into the hole, Disa forms a cover that shields the hole. It does have a fancy pearl color to it. This cover would be a good decoration for a fancy party, but not duelling.
Ella also decides to be respectful to Disa, along with Memrah and the Die. As they bow they think they should start with something to ‘shock’ the audience, so once they stand up they yell “Apello Fulgar!”. BOOM! Suddenly a lightning bolt hits Disa and sends an electrical shock through their body. They seem a little charred on the inside and outside after that ‘shocking’ experience.
In school, you learn that electricity can transfer itself quite quickly in water, that was Disa’s thinking after getting hit by a bundle of electricity. Trying to conjure a whip of water with a burned hand, a small wave of water emerges and it squiggles quickly over to Ella and tries to lash out at them. It’s quite weak and gives Ella a nice bath instead of a few bruises. Hey, at least they don’t have to take a bath now!
Now Ella is now getting obsessed with electricity and decides that electric shocks are the way to go. “Validus Ingis!” they shout, but instead of sparks sprinkling down, a powdery substance that looks like pixie dust rains down like confetti. During this moment, Memrah is having an existential crisis about what fandom this duel is in now.
As Memrah’s crisis starts to calm down, Disa starts to use their noggin. ‘Ice is slippery and ice is the frozen form of water, so if Ella trips on it they’ll fall into this gaping hole!’ This was their reasoning for casting a spell they were planning. “Aquilo!” Disa casts. As ice starts flowing from their wand, Disa’s opponent now starts having trouble balancing, and starts slipping on the ice and falls! Ouch! Luckily for them, they landed on their bum, and not in the hole. And they only had to get a few broken ribs, some cuts and bruises here and there, and some cool blue icy hair to survive that fall!
“REVENGE!” is what starts raging inside of Ella’s head as they start getting ready for their next attack. Locomotor Wibbly is what Ella will use to give Disa their own medicine! The medicine does work, and Disa’s legs starts fumbling around. One way, another way, as they try and keep their balance, their wand gets lost from their grasp granting Ella another turn.
Now immobilizing Disa seems to become the priority of Ella as they conjure the spell Incarcerous. With Ella determined, the spell comes out quite strong but nearly misses Disa as it hits one of a fence pole. Ropes start twirling around it to make a nice design. It’s quite pretty, but I don’t think it’s time for appreciating it during a dramatic duel.
No one notices the fence pole, but the revenge never stops! Disa summons the spell Terratremae to get Ella’s balance thrown off and getting smashed onto the wooden boards. An earthquake is what Ella thought about as they start conjuring it, but nothing comes out. No earthquake, no shaking boards, and no movement. Nothing at all!
But it seems like Ella is getting more ‘heated’ in this duel. They shout “Obruoseripigcio!” to release the snakes of fire! But it seems like the fire snakes are too lazy to come out of Ella’s wand, since it’s a nice ‘hot’ day outside for them. So in all, nothing happened as well.
After those to failed spells, Disa decides to give up ‘Try to make Ella fall into the hole’ tatic and decides to try a more ‘colder’ perspective. “Glacio Impulo!” they yell, and sudden sharp ice shards start raining above Ella. They cause many cuts and a lot of discomfort. I guess this is a reminder to stay inside when hail happens.
What’s the opposite of ice? Fire! That was the idea the with given by the crowd to Ella. “Pergalidus Ignis!” is what Ella said before sending a great sword of fire towards Disa. It hits Disa on the right side, and burns the whole side of Disa’s torso. A disgusting sizzling sound was heard as it cooks their insides, before Disa pulls it out and throws it off the platform. Ouch…!
At least Disa is lucky enough that fire cauterizes wounds.
But after that surprise attack, Disa does get a little mad and decides to get sweet revenge on Ella. Sometimes electricity causes burns which lead to Disa yelling Pettro at Ella. The spell causes a small lane a electricity, causing Ella’s hair to go up in a messy fashion.
The stakes grow higher as the duel begins to get a little more hotter. These two duellers are getting obsessed with heat, as Ella conjures the spell Incendio! The fire rages from Ella’s wand, barely hitting Disa. Instead it targets the fence pole covered in rope. It was enjoying it’s life covered in rope, but now it’s burning to a crisp as the railings start to get covered in fire as well.
As the raging blaze starts slowly approaching Disa, they decide to freeze Ella...literally. The spell Fringus Sanguis flies away from Disa’s wand and starts rushing to Ella. Suddenly Ella’s insides freeze up, and their bones and limbs start getting chilly. Looks like Ella captured frostbite! In a sense that the frost bit Ella.
Snakes seem to be an ideal pet for Ella, as now they’re trying to cast Serpelidus Inflametis to create snakes to scare Disa and to warm up Ella. Only a few wriggling snakes leap out from Ella’s wand, and start tiredly drag themselves over to Ella’s opponent. Seems like they aren’t going to do anything!
Before we carry on, I have a riddle for you guys. Disa wants to cool their burns, extinguish the burning snakes, and make Ella’s frozen insides a little more chillier. What does Disa want? If you guessed water, you’re correct! Impello Aqua are the words that flowed out of Disa’s mouth. A wave of water rushes through Disa’s and Ella’s legs, as it rushes towards Ella in a destructive manner. We could say the amount of water is a few buckets.
But the water is enough to make Ella miss the feeling of being warm. To regain the feeling they conjure the spell Sol Erumpo. Suddenly a second sun grew into size above Disa. Despite giving Disa some severe sunburns, it also dries out their clothes and reunites the fence’s fire. And yes, Ella is getting cured of their chilly body.
Disa suddenly realizes that Ella is nearing Hypothermia, and they think ‘Maybe drawing some blood from them is a way to shut them down faster!”. And hence Disa’s casting of Sectumsempra. Even though they had to bear through the pain of the sunburns, they still missed Ella by a few inches. Instead it shreds up a fence pole, and many wood chips start flying out. Luckily wood doesn’t have blood.
After the misses attempt by Disa, Ella decides that Interferus is the way to go, as they start aiming their wand at Disa. But Disa had a plan to be shielded by this disaster, by a spell by the name of Moenia Glacialis! Both spells seem to work, but as Ella’s spell hits Disa’s shield everything fizzles away. From Memrah’s brain, they conclude that the warm mist of Interferus collided into the cold mist of Moenia Glacialis. As they collided they made a small mini tornado and fizzled away into nothingness.
After Memrah’s explanation, Ella has gotten bored and needs some amusement. The perfect spell for that is Tarantallegra, so off it goes from Ella’s wand and hitting Disa. Their legs start tapping all over the place, as if they were doing a jig of some sort. The jig brings so much joy that no one notices the platform about to suffocate in the fire.
During the jig, Disa was not having any of it. They scanned the area and they panicked. The blaze surrounded both duellers and the referee! The platform starts wobbling, and Disa knew this was the last cast of the duel. To make the most out of it, Disa casts Sectumsempra. It hits Ella in the middle of the torso. It wasn’t strong, but it was a good cast.
Finally Memrah has gotten out of their joy, and realizes they were all going to die soon. So they extinguish the fire with a flick of their wand. After, Memrah leads both duellers out from the charred platform. Disa seems to be disappointed that Ella didn’t trip into the big hole in the middle, but both thank Memrah for a great and fun duel before they all apparate to the Hospital Wing.

Forest of Chaos, Morgan vs Mary
by Mellsuili
Guess who’s back! Mell is back! And guess what Mell has? A brand new dueling article for you to read!
As both Morgan and Mary are led up a staircase by Memrah, they can’t help but notice they’re in a forest of some sort. Hopefully, none of them create fire with their wand, or else chaos will ensue. Once they reach the top, there’s a small tree house waiting for their arrival. It looks quite cozy inside, and both duellers wonder if they could go inside before dueling.
But suddenly Memrah announces “Since an elevated platform worked quite well last time, I thought we could use another one in this duel.” Mary and Morgan look at each other in a worried fashion. Are they going to fall off or set this whole place in a blazing fire? Who knows? But the duellers quickly disperse and walk to their spots.
Duellers:
Morgan (Ashftslipknot29)
Mary (Rainfall)
Referee:
Memrah
As Memrah signifies the duel has begun, Morgan takes out their wand and yells “Stupefy!” A big flash comes shooting out of Morgan’s wand, and it’s very strong by the looks of it. It heads towards Mary, but the subtle wind starts to pick up and redirects their spell to hit a tree branch.
And it seems like that Mary is bowing before casting! They bow to their opponent, the referee, and the die. Suddenly they draw their wand, and the word ‘Pettero’ comes through their mouth.
As those words come out, a shiny flash sprouts from Mary’s wand. It is a beautiful silver and has a wonderful shimmer to it, that ‘shocks’ the audience due to how glamorous it is. The flash suddenly hits Morgan and sends electricity through their entire system. Unluckily for Mary’s opponent, it sends a stingy scent into the air as Morgan gets electrocuted. Once finished Morgan is a little shaky but still able to walk around.
After that unpleasant experience, Morgan decides to freeze Mary and shouts “Aquilo!” A stream of freezing cold water bursting out of their wand is what they imagine, but instead, an explosion of snowflakes appears. As the snowflakes majestically fall, they give an impression of a snow globe.
It seems like Mary isn’t shaken up by the snow, as they shout their next incantation easily. Conqueo is what sends Morgan flying where they do a cool twist before a rough landing. Their tailbone is somewhat bruised, and a rib or two might be out of place when they land, but everything else seems okay.
Now, this is where it gets exceedingly dangerous. Morgan seems to want to play with fire, even though they’re in a forest with an abundance of trees! But either way, the incantation ‘Obruoserpigcio’ seems to bring a colossal snake of fire. Mary tries to outrun it, but the snake is too fast and way too big! The snake wraps around Mary and tosses them harshly at a wall behind Mary. Ouch...that ought to leave a pile of burns and some fractures.
Even though Mary is all shaken up and a little broken, they try and cast a spell anyway. They hoped to tie Morgan’s hands together with the spell “Substringo Manus,” but it fails miserably.
Even though Mary is already suffering from burns and broken bones, some electricity wouldn’t hurt, right? That’s what Morgan is thinking when they cast “Apello Fulgar” at their opponent. A little light bolt appears above Mary’s head, but all it does is give some static electricity to Mary’s robes.
Hopefully, Morgan can feel the cloud of revenge sneaking by because Mary is going to attempt to create a storm above Morgan. As they shout “Tempestam Genero!” raindrops are suddenly heard, except that there are no drops. Both duellers suddenly notice that a ‘Rainfall’ is showering a few trees behind the platform. At least some trees are receiving water!
I think this duel is starting to spiral down into destruction! As Morgan shouts “Convisus Partietis!” the spell nearly misses Mary by a few inches. It continues just to hit the small house, drilling a grand hole into the wall. Now that I think about it, that would hurt a lot just to get a hole drilled into your body. Getting my teeth drilled is enough for me!
Even though Mary is a bit shaken when they are almost hit by a hole of death, they still are able to cast “Lecto Tergum.” A small burst comes out of Mary’s wand, but guess what it does? As it touched Morgan, patches of skin start to fall off, and it is everywhere on their body. From the head to the toes, and I don’t think you would like to see what that looks like.
Finally, Morgan sees the chance to use a very damaging spell. Sectumsempra comes spiraling out of their wand, managing to create a large gash on Mary’s chest. Blood starts leaking out of the wound and onto the shirt that Mary is wearing. It’s not a pleasant scene either.
Suddenly, the wind starts to become more ferocious as it starts circling around Morgan. It becomes stronger and stronger until the gusts seem like blades of air. The ‘blades of air’ start to make small little cuts on Morgan's skin, which seem terribly painful. At least Mary saw the opportunity to cause more damage with Morgan’s skin showing.
Even with all those cuts, Morgan still manages to pull a powerful incantation. Blazing flames are released from their wand and try to aim for Mary. But instead it hits the houses, and a grand blaze emerges on the wooden house. Hopefully, they don’t fall to their death because the platform may be dependent on that house…
Mary decides to buy themself more time before getting extremely hurt again. They decide on “Visum Duos” to try and buy them the time they need. The spell hurls out of their wand and straight into Morgan. As it hits them, it inflicts something strange on Morgan’s vision. Everything seems to be doubled to Morgan now, and it looks quite confuzzling.
Even with this new vision, Morgan is still able to retrieve revenge! As they shout the word “Conqeuo,” the spells lightly hit Mary but manage to make Mary do a backflip in the air. As they land, one or both of their wrists are dislocated, but nothing else seems to be harmed. But Mary’s wound is starting to leak more and more blood. This duel is coming to its end due to Mary’s Sectumsempra wound becoming quite severe.
Before this duel can end, Mary decides to use as much damage as possible. The spell Interfus squirts out of Mary’s wand and hits Morgan on the chest. Morgan’s internal organs begin heating up quickly like an oven as their minor cuts bleed more and more.
Sectumsempra is what Morgan tries to inflict before this battle ends, but just in time, Memrah steps in and stops Morgan. They seem to have forgotten the rule of not being able to cast Sectumsempra after 10 turns of a successful attempt.
Mary finally sees the chance to let Morgan draw some blood and yells “Sectumsempra!”. Unluckily for them, the spell misses Morgan by a meter and hits a fence. It rips and shreds itself until it nothing is left but a pile of small wood pins.
Even though Morgan can’t use Sectumsempra, one spell is still left at their hand. The spell Interfus! But their double vision fails them, and instead, the spell fizzles away into nothingness.
That was a miserable end, but instead of just standing there, Memrah quickly apparates both duellers from the fire and their bleeding wounds, before they die. As they appear in the hospital wing, Memrah both pats each dueller on their back before they are escorted to their beds.
