Corner

Your computer says "You've Got Mail" and you run outside looking for an owl.
You ask for a broom for Christmas.
You sort everyone you meet into the four Hogwarts houses.
You went out and bought the latest edition of the Webster's Dictionary because they added the word "muggle".
You were burned trying to get through the flames of your fireplace.
You were kicked out of the movie theater for standing on your chair, throwing your shoe at the screen and yelling "THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE BOOK!"

How do you know you're taking Harry Potter way too seriously?

HUFFLEPUFF CELEBRATES CUP WIN AFTER 'CLOSEST MATCH IN YEARS'

- GRYFFINDOR AND SLYTHERIN -

Gryffindor and Slytherin had the honour of the last match this year, which probably couldn’t affect the cup but which would determine the final standings.
It started on a somewhat lacklustre note as both beaters failed to save themselves from bludgers; Lkins and Alexisop made use of the medic tent while headlesghost got Gryffindor the Quaffle and made a goal run. While Dracosgf then got on track with the bludgers, Gryffindor beaters were still nowhere to be seen and this time Nashoka pays the price. New keeper VictoriaN saves wonderfully for her inaugural quidditch game and the beaters too start getting their game together, but VictoriaN gets taken out shortly after due to slow reactions, just while Gryffindor are dodging their way up the field again. Luckily Victoria got it together again and back on her broom in front of the goalhoops before Girlmeetsboy got all the way there, but the bludgers were having a field day taking out Slytherins- the fifth casualty is pacisangelo.

He manages to get back on his broom to take the Quaffle for Slytherin for the first time, but then everything is eclipsed by a surprise snitch capture from Madeleine, making Slytherin the winners.

I must say both Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff have been strong contenders this year and their final match couldn’t have been closer. A big round of applause to both teams; hopefully they kicked back and enjoyed the concluding game this week knowing that their work was done. Slytherin also prove themselves in this final match, while I think Gryffindor must be given a lot of credit for consistently playing good matches but having a bit of bad luck- they really didn’t play badly at all this year and I’d expect them to be the dark horses next year.

FINAL year 20 Standings: Hufflepuff 170, Ravenclaw 120, Slytherin 50, Gryffindor 10,
Ones to Watch: HUFFLEPUFF Ella made her team proud in her seeking debut
RAVENCLAW Iris couldn’t have been closer behind her and flew like a demon!
SLYTHERIN VictoriaN saves a perfect 2/2 Quaffles
GRYFFINDOR Girlmeetsboy has had a decent chasing season all the way through the year

The match to determine glory. Could Hufflepuff do it two years in a row and almost guarantee their victory, or would Ravenclaw steal the crown in a bid to get both house and quidditch cups in the same year? There was no doubt going into this match that both teams were strong and on form; the crowds were tense with the anticipation, knowing that this was it. The big one. Even referee Jamey seemed infected by the excitement of the final round of matches, lighting a great basin to get the game underway!

There was a lot of new talent on the teams, most apparent with the substitutions of the Seekers, Iris and Ella, who both were no doubt feeling the pressure of the final match even more than the rest! The game got off on full throttle, and it was clear that the excitement was spreading amongst the players. Everyone was trying their utmost and flying fast but it was Hufflepuff that got off to the best start possible with the Quaffle. Nimble chaser ShadowRP16 of Hufflepuff sped in and dodged her way around to shoot very quickly, despite Rae of Ravenclaw in a stealing bid. QuillHallow saved the attempt but it was a noble try at the goalhoops. Meanwhile Hufflepuff also had a bit of misfortune with Booksonglover becoming a casualty of the first bludger hit by Jane, as her beating vigilance finally reaps rewards.

The second run with the quaffle came from Lara of Ravenclaw who attracted plenty of bludgers herself from Ichigo Mirai as she sped up the field. This did no harm to Lara’s run however and she scored making it 10-0. The lead didn’t last too long; Connie equalised shortly afterwards for the badgers. QuillHallow tried to save again but was just marginally too late the second time around.

Then it was the turn of the seekers to take the stage. The beaters were making a concentrated effort to target Iris and Ella as the match reached the later stages. When the snitch was sighted this turned up a notch, but both seekers were oblivious as they searched furiously for that gold speck.
