Letter From the editor

Dearest Readers of the Quibbler,

Hello! I am beyond excited to welcome you back to the Quibbler for our eighty-seventh issue. In our last edition, we highlighted changes in the Quibbler; in this edition, we will highlight changes in the castle! Our wonderful team of columnists has prepared a variety of articles on subjects such as the recent site changes, alumni returning to the Common Rooms, recent events, and more! You can also look forward to reading through a recap of Year 67's Quidditch season and an intriguing Quibbler Quest that suggests the presence of a waffle-hungry professor roaming the castle.

If you're interested in writing for the Quibbler or if you have any feedback, questions, or concerns, please PM me!

Sincerely,

Rowena Riddle

ANNABETH

GRANGER

As the year came to an end, students frantically scrambling to put together last-minute assignments, professors waiting for that last grade to be put in so they could go on summer break, the Admin were cooking up something of their own. As we all know, myHogwarts has become quite small these last few years. What was once a lively and buzzing community has now dwindled to be what it is today. And with that downsize in activity, came a downsize to the website, much to everyone’s sadness. But don’t fear, there are some exciting changes that have been implemented, which we’ll get into today!

But first, some of the super-duper interesting administration stuff. As you can probably tell, the website itself has changed and moved around quite a bit over the summer and during the first term of this year. Most notably, Professors' offices are now finally in one central location! No more hunting around the castle to find the Professor’s desk just to sign up for a practical.

While this is a mostly factual article, I may sprinkle some opinions in, here or there. With that said, I find the way that the site got rearranged and adjusted to make a bit more sense than the way the site was organized before. Having gotten rid of some of the forums that were only in place to match canon and had no real functionality has also made it much easier to search for things when necessary. One of the other major changes in this category relates to the Job Listings forum. Previously, there were two separate topics, one for Alumni and one for student jobs. Soon, they will be merged into one forum, with a specification as to whether a position is Alumni-specific or not. Speaking of Alumni

Alumni are back in their House colours! Doing so has allowed them to start gaining House points for their own Houses again and feel more connected to the Hogwarts community, rather than having them so separated like they were before. However, C was quick to mention that upon graduation, members would still get hit with the purple ray gun for a week while also being given a new opportunity: A chance for a resorting. This would be a written submission as to why they don’t feel like they belong in the House they were sorted into and which House they would feel better in, based on the mH culture of these definitions, NOT the canon stereotypes. A smaller point regarding Alumni/graduate aspects is the fact that WizU will now have its own sidebar for classes, just like the Hogwarts classes, and the main WizU forum will be “significantly downsized”.

C then promptly gave us all a heart attack with the Quidditch news. After being reassured that it wasn’t turning into a special “every-few-years” event, members found out that joint-House teams are back! With Slytherdor and Ravenpuff taking charge, who will take home the Quidditch Cup? Find out by reading this edition's Quidditch article!

The last point, and in my opinion, the most exciting one as well, is that we have a new Achievement system! Since the early days of mH, we had badges for various things, some of which were incorporated into the current achievement possibilities. Now, we have a fun and interactive awards system to replace badges, much like video game achievements. Each person gets their own subtopic with a list of achievements that can be earned. As of right now, there are 121 achievements spread across 13 categories: King’s Cross, Progression, Academics, Quidditch, Duelling, Chess, Codenames, Tournaments, Gap Years, Money and Shopping, Jobs, Anniversaries and Miscellaneous. I will not go on to list all 121 possible achievements, you can see those for yourselves. 😊  Personally, I’m really excited about this and to see who the first one to achieve all 121 will be! And a huge thanks to Smart for spending his time and energy creating these and putting all of them together.

With that, we’ve reached the end. While it’s bittersweet to see things changing, I’m excited for the things still to come. While I wrap up, I just want to give a huge shoutout and thanks to all of the Admin who have spent so much of their free time giving this site their all and making it the best experience it can possibly be. I think I can speak for most of us when I say that we appreciate you and everything you do.
